string theory makes a comeback

Thanks to that sometimes annoying Brain Greene, string theory appears to be making its way back into the hearts of those desiring that wiley theory of everything.

Everywhere I turn something related to string theory catches my attention. Synchronicity? Or is it just that string theory is everywhere (since it's everything) and I'm the tardy one just catching on?

I agree that Greene has a knack for explaining the string theory tenets in an appealing and entertaining manner. However, I still find it difficult to visualize the extra 4-14 potential dimensions predicted by string theory today. Or am I asking too much due to the construct limitations of the three traditional dimensions?

I enjoyed your blog and am currently getting through the posts on Nietzsche. What brought you to socialism's door in your original post? It rings so much of ye old Ayn Rand and objectivist thought that I can't help but wonder what modern day socilaists might do to addresss your very concerns of individualist sacrifice. The one socialist I know always made defensive arguments when her party was accused of anything less then individuality support. Or are you limiting your focus to socialism as socio-economic philosophy?

Hey, on an aisde...do you ever still check out Dr. Edwards's evolution blog anymore?
